Why the Angst Over Gasoline Prices?

I have to confess I don't know what the fuss about gasoline prices is all about, especially given the stoked media coverage ahead of the July 4th holiday. We're precisely where we were just 26 months ago, and I don't recall anyone renting their garments asunder at that time. Naturally, there was a sharp drop in price when COVID struck, which didn't do you any good since you weren't going anywhere!


Note the prices for gasoline (blue) and oil (red) are NOT adjusted for inflation. Fuel is still cheap in America.
