Debt Service is Still Cheap

Interest payments on the national debt actually FELL last year, to $345 billion or 1.6% of gross domestic product. They’re on track to dip further still in the years to come, before swinging back up again, which gives us breathing room as the COVID recovery gets built out. H/T to Lisa Abramowicz of Bloomberg.
